That's called brainstorming. Perhaps you're not thinking your "prompts" correctly because you're overthinking about yourself.
What you could do instead is deviate those self conflicting ideas, and focus on your drawings/ projects. Maybe listen to music to distract yourself as well. Hope this helps!
